Welcome to Angels Stadium, where the mood is relaxed and a little lazy. It feels like a Sunday, which is one great aspect of weekday day baseball. Several Red Sox sat on clubhouse recliners and watched “Dumb and Dumber.” Jeff Bailey, George Kottaras, and J.D. Drew seemed most engrossed, which, in my mind, speaks to their high character. Jonathan Papelbon walked by and proclaimed the film, “the Greatest Movie of All Time.” I am full agreement with the closer.

The Red Sox fly out to Seattle after the game today, which will serve as a homecoming for several players. The Red Sox have an aberrational concentration of players from the region. Jason Bay (Trail, B.C.), Jeff Bailey (Longview, Wash.), Jon Lester (Tacoma, Wash.), and Jacoby Ellsbury (Madras, Ore.) all hail from the Pacific Northwest. Jed Lowrie (Salem, Ore.) would be on the list, but he’s back in Boston rehabbing his left wrist.

Bailey lived in Seattle for a few offseaons, and Bay lives there now in the offseason; his wife is from Seattle. The Sox will have a ton of followers in the seats for those players, and it works well that Lester will start tomorrow. Bay said that “busloads” of people from Trail are planning on making the trip. He’s happy to sleep in his own bed.

And for today’s game, Dustin Pedroia is back in at second base. The Red Sox lineup will test out Ervin Santana, who had been on the disabled list all year until today.
