Afternoon tilt with the Tigers
The Red Sox will be going for their first three-game sweep of the Tigers on the road in almost 13 years today in a 1:05 p.m. start at Comerica Park.
We'll have lineups, pregame notes, in-game updates, and more from the Globe's Dan Shaughnessy and Amalie Benjamin (via Twitter @AmalieBenjamin) on Boston.com starting later this morning.
Knuckleballer Tim Wakefield (6-3, 4.55 ERA) will try to keep the positive momentum going for the Sox, who have allowed just one earned run against the Tigers. Wakefield is 1-2 with an 11.30 ERA in his last three road starts. He gave up six runs in 4 2/3 innings in a 6-3 loss to the Blue Jays in Toronto on Friday, matching his shortest start of the season.
For the Tigers, it's lefthander Dontrelle Willis (1-2, 5.56 ERA) on the mound for the matinee. It's the fifth start of the season for Willis since returning from an anxiety disorder. Willis is coming off his worst start since rejoining the Tigers, giving up seven runs and 10 hits in five innings of work in a 7-2 loss to the Orioles on Friday.
This is Willis's second career start against the Red Sox and first since 2006 when he was with the Florida Marlins.

What is going on with the Youk injury?
Go Wake!
and go Sox!
Best record against the east, the toughest group in hardball. Just 0.141 between first and last. Now just cure those road woes and make the hard but time-is-due choice with Ortiz. Not over due, just due. It is June, and we're tied with the Yanks yet have a 5.5 game lead over them against the east. Again, go and win on the road guys!! Maybe spill some chicken blood on that hole in the Bronx where David's jersey used to be...
wake is going to get drilled again. time to move on to a better pitcher.
