PAWTUCKET at Syracuse was suspended. John Smoltz will pitch in his rehab assignment today.

PORTLAND 5, Erie 3
Third baseman Jorge Jimenez went 3 for 4 with a home run, a walk, three RBI, and a run. Centerfielder Josh Reddick went 2 for 5 with an RBI and a run. Leftfielder Ryan Kalish went 3 for 4. Starter Jarod Plummer allowed three runs in six innings on two hits, six walks, and seven strikeouts. T.J. Large pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out two, for his sixth save.

SALEM was off. The Red Sox play Myrtle Beach today.

Asheville 5, GREENVILLE 1
Starter Nick Hagadone, the Red Sox top draft choice in 2007, allowed no runs on no hits and one walk in 2 2/3 innings and struck out four. Second baseman Zach Gentile went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Centerfielder Peter Hissey went 1 for 3 with a triple and a walk.
