Jerry Remy, the popular color commentator on NESN's Red Sox telecasts who has been on a leave of absence since early May as he recovers from lung cancer surgery, posted a brief audio tweet today thanking fans for their support and saying he hopes to be back in the booth soon.

Here is the full transcript of Remy's message:

"Hi, this is Jerry. I just want to thank everybody for the overwhelming support I've got from you over the last couple of weeks. I've got a much larger family than I ever anticipated. Hope to be in the booth very soon."

Click here to hear the audio. It's certainly nice to hear Remy's familiar voice.
