Buchholz, Cabrera named International League All-Stars
Clay Buchholz isn't heading to Boston just yet, but he is headed to Portland, Ore., to represent the Pawtucket Red Sox in the 2009 International League All-Star game.
Buchholz, the overall leader in the IL fan voting, is 5-1 with a 1.90 ERA, 75 strikeouts to go with 24 walks for the PawSox this season. The righthanded starter will be joined by PawSox reliever Fernando Cabrera, who is 0-1 with a 1.03 ERA and 16 saves to go along with 36 strikeouts in 35 innings for Pawtucket.
The IL standouts will take on the Pacific Coast League's All-Stars in the 22d annual Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 15 in Portland, Ore. First pitch is set for 4:05 p.m. EDT and can be seen live on ESPN2.

Yeesh, find a way to get this guy in Boston already. It's embarrassing that he's still pitching in the minors.
The Globe needs to get with the program and start approving comments faster. It's 2009, yo.
Yeah, Clay and Fernando! Congratulations!
Buchholtz seems to be just toying with AAA hitters. The Sox must see some problem with him that they don't talk about, or he would be in Boston by now.
What is the story here??
Fernando Cabrera is the best-kept secret in AAA. Were it not for our top-calibre bullpen, he'd have been in Boston by now, where he'd likely be excelling under Coach Farrell's auspices.
When you think about it, this is the road that Clay Buchholz should have travelled two years ago, finishing up his minor league career. I think we can expect him in Fenway soon after the ASB, confident, mature, and dominant.
Cabrera who? What a great Pen to have guys like Cabrera, Jones, Vaquedano waiting for their chance, and Rocky Cherry (2.08), M. McBeth (1.86/.91whip), B. Traber (2.23/1.16whip) behind them, and our old faithful loogy Javier Lopez getting his act back together. Both the Red Sox and the PawSox have Pens that are very scary, with 14 MLB RP's.
