Globe 10.0: Make the big trade?
On today's edition of Globe 10.0, Bob Ryan and Chad Finn debate whether the Red Sox need to make the big trade in order to compete for a championship.
Finn suggests the Sox need to make a move for a quality bat, noting there's too many holes in the current lineup, and names like Indians catcher Victor Martinez and Padres first baseman Adrian Gonzalez are tossed around. What's your take? Do the Red Sox need to make a move? Vote in our poll below.

Yes they need to make a trade. Preferably Halladay. Where are all these 1B going to play?
Halladay would be a great addition to the team and perhaps so could Victor Martinez. That being said, the only pressing need for the Red Sox right now is to learn how to start hitting the ball again consistently. Their MVP until June, Jason Bay, has been not much more than a designated fielder since then. Papi has not truly broken out of that slump as his numbers are still abysmal. Varitek is the easiest catcher to steal off of in the entire sport (minors, too). Pitching is pretty solid and consistent (excluding the nightly roller coaster, called Paps).
Are we asking for too much?
Why the obsession with Adrian Gonzalez? The Sox have too many corner infielders as it is. Didn't they JUST acquire LaRoche, who has been hitting well? They need a shortstop and/or another outfielder, possibly a catcher (but then they'd have to sit Varitek more and I don't see Francona doing that, his loyalty won't let him). The only way I see them being able to justify going after Adrian Gonzalez is if they plan to cut Ortiz loose and use Lowell as DH most of the time.
THEY DONT NEED HALLADAY YOU MORONS
