Lineups, one of which includes Jed Lowrie

Manager Terry Francona wasted no time throwing Jed Lowrie into the lineup. He'll start at shortstop today, which Francona said has nothing to do with Nick Green's bruised right hand. Green is healthy, but Francona just wants to get Lowrie in there.

"I feel like whenever I was ready, I expected to come back in," Lowrie said. "Tito does that. He’s not going to wait around. He wants you to play. I haven’t talked to him about what the plans are, if it’s going to be play a day, sit a day. I have no idea. I need to talk to him about that. But yeah, it feels good to be able to play right away. The one thing I don’t need now is a lot of days off."

Mike Lowell is back in the lineup today, feeling good after yesterday's 2-for-4 return from the disabled list. He'll get tomorrow off, with Lowrie likely moving to third -- Francona said on days Lowell receives off and Kevin Youkilis does not move across the diamond, Lowrie would be the preferred choice over Green. The reason, Francona said, has more to do with Green's consistent and, at times, stellar shortstop play than who's better at third.

Jacoby Ellsbury is out again, and Rocco Baldelli will take centerfield. Ellsbury feels "just OK," Francona said. "He doesn't feel too good."

Also, George Kottaras is in for Jason Varitek. With Tim Wakefield pitching the final game of the trip, Francona wanted to get Varitek some rest in a day game following a night game and not waste the repreive the All-Star break provided for Varitek, who had been worked hard before the break.
