Lowrie activated, optioned

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff July 8, 2009 06:46 PM

Jed Lowrie was activated today, and was immediately optioned to Lowell to get his at bats in tonight. With Lowrie's rehab stint ending on Friday, the Sox needed to make a move to allow him to continue to get at bats in the minors. Lowrie had options, so that was the easiest way to go.

To make room for Lowrie on the 40-man roster, the Sox designated Jonathan Van Every for assignment. Van Every was out for the season already after knee surgery.
