Pedroia scratched from lineup
Dustin Pedroia has been scratched from the Sox lineup due to a personal matter. We'll have more as we hear it. Pedroia left the park today at roughly 5:30 p.m., after the Red Sox took batting practice.
Here's the new lineup. Nick Green moves to second, Julio Lugo replaces Pedroia in order.
1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. Julio Lugo, SS
3. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
4. David Ortiz, DH
5. Jason Bay, LF
6. Jason Varitek, C
7. Rocco Baldelli, RF
8. Nick Green, 2B
9. Aaron Bates, 1B

Who is replacing him? seems like we have a huge deficit in infielders right now.
oh, I hope everything is OK.
Hey, we still pay Lugo. He might as well play some. Bates gets the start. Wow.
Nick played 2b well in Atlanta. He should be fine.
Kelli Pedroia is 8 months pregnant. I hope everything is okay with Kelli and the baby boy thats due in August.
Heard on the radio, 890 ESPN, he is at the hospital with his wife.
Heard on 890 ESPN that he is at hospital with his wife.
Dustin's wife IS pregnant. How far along?
Hope everything's ok!
I know that his wife is pregnant, but I didn't think she was due until the end of August (I think). Hope everything is ok.
watch this j.v. lineup struggle
I sure hope everything is ok with his family. Baseball is just a game, a job for him. Famliy is everything.
Best wishes to Dustin Pedroia and his family. We're missing him tonight, but he's got his priorities in order.
i think irs kelli having the baby awwww
What happened to Bailey?
I hope everything is Ok for the class of the Red Sox, Dustin Pedroia.
Varitek is hot garbage though. Take off the mask you weinie.
Baseball is just a game...Dustin is a quiet leader. Pennants come and pennants go, gentlemen stay in our hearts forever. Thanks for the information Dawn and Mike!
Dustin needs to be with his wife if that's the reason he didn't play. Family before work. His absence isn't the reason we lost. Jacoby is impatient as a leadoff hitter and Tito should know that by now. Ortiz jumped out of his shoes early in his at-bats showing a disregard for the team and a selfishness unlike his past performances. Lugo simply isn't a major league caliber shortshop from a defensive standpoint. If you have to start someone from the minor leagues who is hitting less than 200 (i.e. the first baseman) then do it at shortstop and get Lugo off the field. If the Sox don't care who wins then why should I?
At least Lugo looked good tonight. A throwing error when he had the guy by 20 feet, and 2 whiffs. Nice 1-2 punch Tito, Ellsbury and Lugo. What's with the new guy they called up to play first base, Master Bates? Haven't heard of him, but Eckersley seemed to accidently mention his name earlier this year when referring to Masterson.
I thought of the baby immediately. I hope everyone is okay. Love to the Pedroias.
I'm sure everything will work out for Dustin...Red Sox have not been hitting for over a month...they take more good pitches than the whole league combined...Don't get it....
Every time Lugo is in the starting lineup.....we lose! Well maybe not everytime...,just 95% of the time. When do you think will take notice of that and stop putting him in? Or Theo will take notice and trade him? Hurry Lowrie...Please Hurry!1
For tonight's game (Tuesday), please don't have Ellsbury leading off against the lefty. Bad enough that Pedroia had to lose momentum after his best offensive game of the season on Sunday. Green looked terrific on defense at 2nd base, but Lugo was true to form - unacceptable. Bates showed no obvious sign that he could hit ML pitching, but maybe Oakland's guy tonight is not really an example of the latter. All in all, we're depending on Beckett.
