Updates: Sox at Blue Jays
GAME OVER (10:03, END GAME, Sox 4-1)
Buchholz wins it; Papelbon saves it. Game over.
ON TO THE BOTTOM NINTH (9:56, BOTTOM 9, Sox 4-1)
Jonathan Papelbon's coming in to try to save this one for Clay Buchholz. It would be Buchholz's first win since May 2 of last season. Buchholz did not earn a win in his last nine starts of the 2008 season before being demoted to Double A.
OKI IN (9:39, BOTTOM 8, Sox 4-1)
Hideki Okajima has come in to relieve Daniel Bard for the eighth inning with the game at 4-1. John McDonald replaced David Dellucci in left field in the prior half inning. Dellucci made an outstanding catch in the seventh to rob Dustin Pedroia.
BUCHHOLZ DONE (9:20, TOP 7, Sox 4-1)
Clay Buchholz came out in the last inning after allowing a single to Lyle Overbay, then walking Alex Rios to put the tying run in the batter's box. He allowed one run on four hits over 5 2/3 innings, and 103 pitches. He looked very good at times, and can get the win. Daniel Bard came in and struck out Jose Bautista swinging to end the inning.
MIGHTY BLAST (8:52, TOP 5, Sox 4-1)
David Ortiz knocked Ricky Romero out of the ballgame with a double to the wall in left field, bringing in two more runs for the Sox. Romero was replaced by Shawn Camp, and the Sox did no more damage in the inning.
JAYS SCORE (8:32, TOP 5, Sox 2-1)
Buchholz allowed his first run of the season, as Lyle Overbay's double moved Scott Rolen (fielder's choice) to third, followed by a sacrifice fly by Alex Rios. Buchholz allowed two doubles in the inning, though Adam Lind's leadoff double was erased on that fielder's choice.
SHORTSTOP HOLE (8:22, TOP 4, Sox 2-0)
Nick Green just had to be looked at by the Sox trainer Paul Lessard after a ball he had some wrist trouble, it appeared. He was fine, and eventually struck out. But the question is who would back up Green in the event he got injured? With Julio Lugo gone and Jed Lowrie not yet up, the Sox have no backup middle infielder.
A WASTE (7:36, TOP 2, Sox 2-0)
The Sox just wasted a leadoff walk to Jason Varitek when the three batters following all struck out swinging. Not that it was all their fault. There has got to be some credit given to Ricky Romero, who came back strong in that inning from a shaky first, in which he allowed two hits (though one didn't even get to second base for an infield hit) and a walk.
BUCH'S BACK (7:29, BOTTOM 1, Sox 2-0)
So far Clay Buchholz has gotten three straight ground balls to shortstop in his first trip back to the big league mound since last season. Pretty good start.
ON THE BOARD EARLY (7:12, TOP 1, Sox 2-0)
After a fielder's choice erased J.D. Drew, but left Dustin Pedroia on first, Kevin Youkilis took Ricky Romero deep for a two-run home run to kick off the scoring here in Toronto.

The rest of the digital world seems to be under the impression that it was a 2-run homer.
Actually, Pedroia hit into a force play, not a double play. That makes Youk's a two-run homer, not a solo. Sox are up 2-0. This is based on MLB.com's scoreboard and the scoreboard on Boston.com.
thats wrong.... its 2-0
what? it's 2-0. no double play. what kind of reporter are you?
Amalie, I'm stuck watching on MLB Gameday, but it says Youk's 1st-inning HR scored Pedroia too, making it 2-0. Are we watching the same game?
Just so you know it's 2-0. It was a two run home run. No double play happened...Pedey beat it out.
Looking sharp Clay, looking sharp..
You can never have too much pitching, unless you have too much pitching. Let the trade rumors begin!!!
OKay Clay proved he can handle it.
Francona 's manner as he took the ball in the sixth said it all.
Sorry kid your history great effort or not.
Your not one of the anointed.
