By now, presumably, Yankees manager Joe Girardi has made out a lineup for Game 2 of the World Series and he'll reveal it within an hour or so.

He had some tough decisions to make.

Right fielder Nick Swisher is 4 for 35 (.114) in the postseason with one RBI. If you go back to Sept. 16, he is hitting .143 with four RBI. At some point, perhaps today, practicality has to replace faith.

What's interesting is that little-used reserve Jerry Hairston Jr. is 10 of 27 with three walks against Pedro Martinez in his career and can play right field. Hairston hasn't faced Pedro since 2004, but he does have a successful history against him.

Or Girardi could go with Eric Hinske, who is 8 for 30 against Pedro. Or put a wildcard on the table in Brett Gardner, who has never faced Pedro but has the speed to perhaps add a spark to the offense.

Then there is the catching situation.

Jose Molina has been A.J. Burnett's personal catcher in the postseason. But Burnett has a 4.42 ERA and over 18.1 innings has put 30 runners on base. Does that warrant a personal catcher?

Girardi also could use Jorge Posada as the DH and sit Hideki Matsui (9 for 43 against Pedro).
