Green fielding inquiries

CHICAGO - Former Red Sox utility infielder Nick Green is fielding interest from several teams according to his agent, Tom O'Connell at the General Manager Meetings today. While O'Connell said he hasn't ruled out a return to Boston after Green took his release, "we're going to explore other opportunities. I think Nick proved how valuable of a player he can be. Teams were very surpised how well he played shortstop and by his arm strength. We're hoping he can be someone's super utility player."

O'Connell figured the Red Sox were going with Jed Lowrie and/or Alex Gonzalez, whose option was also not picked up by the team but who could return for a figure less than the $6 million option the Sox declined.

O'Connell also represents free-agent righty Carl Pavano. O'Connell will give the Minnesota Twins first crack at Pavano, but when asked if he would be against returning to Boston he said, "I'm sure he would never rule that out. But we're really in the early stages of this right now and its only fair we try to work out something weith the team that had him and where Carl really enjoyed pitching."
