A flurry of moves in baseball
As the Red Sox work to complete a deal with John Lackey, Roy Halladay is reportedly in Philadelphia discussing a contract extension and may be in the final stages of being traded from the Blue Jays to the Phillies.
The three-team deal could include Cliff Lee heading to the Mariners. Halladay would be pleased to land in Philadelphia for two reasons:
1. He would dominate the National League.
2. He lives close to Dunedin, Fla., only a few minutes from where the Phillies conduct spring training.
Meanwhile, Hideki Matsui is said to be close to a deal with the Angels for one year and $6.5 million to replace Vladimir Guerrero as the DH.
As more deals come down, teams will want to act fast. The Red Sox could move on a left fielder (Mike Cameron?) or a third baseman rapidly.
