Mets make an offer for Bay
The Angels made it clear yesterday that they didn't have any interest in Jason Bay. But the Mets certainly do.
According to reports that have since been confirmed, the Mets have made Bay a four-year offer slightly higher than the four-year, $60 million deal presented by the Red Sox. These are the only known offers Bay has received.
The sad-sack Mets need a lot of help, but they particularly need a left fielder. Cavernous Citi Field would not be a good fit for Bay offensively or defensively. But for the right price, he could make it work.
