Sheffield has suitors
INDIANAPOLIS - Gary Sheffield indicated by E-mail that four teams have contacted him about playing in 2010.
Sheffield, who hit .276 with 10 homers and 43 RBI for the Mets last season, would not reveal which four teams had called but felt there is interest by teams looking for a power righthanded bat. There are many teams looking to fill that need from Atlanta, Seattle, New York Mets, Tampa Bay and others. Sheffield would like to play everyday, but at this stage of his career, he's likely to be used as a platoon player or DH. Sheffield did indicate that Boston was not one of the teams who contacted him.
