Everything was quiet at the Player Development Complex today. The players took the day off and will be back on the field tomorrow. I would imagine a few more big leaguers will show up in the next 24-48 hours.

This is the last weekend most or them will have off until October or November perhaps. Plus today is Valentine's Day and it's hard to explain to your wife that you needed to go play catch with somebody in Florida.

A few readers e-mailed to ask what exactly the Player Development Complex was. It's nothing fancy. There are fields, bullpens, a covered set of batting cages and a small building that houses offices, a clubhouse and workout facilities. The complex is a mile down the road from City of Palms Park. It's in the middle of an industrial area of Fort Myers at the end of a road.

That's one of the reasons the Red Sox were seeking a new facility. It's much easier to have your stadium and practice fields all in the same place. Then the players can use the same clubhouse from the start of spring training to the end. Most teams have it set up that way.

Also, Nick Cafardo takes a look at every team headed into spring training.

Finally, Josh Beckett is hanging out at the Daytona 500.
