105.jpgThe latest issue of Outdoor Life magazine, which hits newsstands on Friday, has an interview with Jon Lester.

The big lefty talks about his love of the outdoors, his achievements as a hunter and fisherman, how that helped him get through cancer treatments and now has become something he shares with his wife, Farrah.

Lester disclosed that he recently purchased land for hunting near his home in Georgia as well.

Extra Bases has an exclusive sneak peak at the interview on line:

One sample:

Outdoor Life:Are there any skills you take from the pitching mound to the deer woods, or vice versa?

Jon Lester: "The two biggest things that translate from the pitching mound to hunting and fishing are patience and perseverance. When youíre on the mound you have to take the game one pitch at a time, regardless of the score, and that approach helps when Iím in the woods or on the water as well. Just as Iím fortunate to pitch in the big leagues, Iím also fortunate for the time I get to spend outdoors."

Thanks to Outdoor Life for sharing the interview before it went public.
