FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Rain is on the way here this morning as a long line of showers is about to hit us in Southwest Florida.

We're expecting winds gusting to 30-40 m.p.h., with a lot of rain, and possibly lightning. The storms are expected to hit right around the time of the Red Sox' final morning workout at the players development complex. The weather is expected to clear by the afternoon.

We're waiting for official word from the team to see if today's outdoor session will be canceled. We'll let you know the decision once we hear.

Regardless of the weather, the scene will shift later today to City of Palms Park -- the team's spring training stadium -- just two and a half miles up Edison Ave. ...and the Groundhog-Day-feeling of going to the complex for the daily workouts will be officially over as the major league squad prepares for tomorrow's doubleheader vs. Northeastern (1:05 p.m., Casey Kelly to start) and Boston College (6:05 p.m., Boof Bonser to start). Also, be sure to check out our audio slideshow tour of City of Palms Park here, that we produced a few years ago.
