Swinging in the rain
The position players are under cover taking batting practice. Most of the guys are swinging at balls off a tee.
The media trailers (where we work for the first few weeks of spring training) are only a few feet away and all you can hear is the rat-a-tat of wood connecting with horsehide.
The rain let up for a second then picked up again. If it clears, the pitchers who need to throw could head outside in the bullpen. Half the sky is trying to be blue and the other half is dismal gray.
I called back to the Globe and tried to get a day off. No deal, so I'll hang around and keep you posted.
