* Boof Bonser will rejoin Pawtucket tomorrow and throw a bullpen session. He'll need a few of those before he's ready to get back on the mound. His 30-day rehab clock, which was stopped by shoulder pain, will start fresh once he gets into a game.

"I'm feeling fine now," said the righthander, who had shoulder surgery 14 months ago. "Just needed a little time."

* Both Jacoby Ellsbury and Mike Cameron will accompany the team on the road trip, which is a sign they'll be swinging a bat and doing some running. Cameron is on the DL with a sports hernia, Ellsbury with fractured ribs. While Cameron is increasingly optimistic, Ellsbury said a few minutes ago that there has been "no real improvement" and he still feels pain when he swings.

* Jed Lowrie remember him? has started to pick up the frequency and intensity of his workouts in Florida as he recovers from mononucleosis. It sounds like he's still weeks away from playing, however.

Lowrie has lost 10 pounds but should be close to having it out of his system.

* Francona said he planned to stay away Sunday from using closer Jonathan Papelbon, who needed 18 pitches to get the save last night and has appeared in three of the last four games.

I snapped this photo this morning. Love being in a ballpark early in the day when it's empty.
