Notes: The Sox beat the Nationals 7-2 yesterday in Fort Myers. ... The final exhibition game of the season will be at Nationals Park, where the Sox took two out of three games last June. ... This will be Wakefield's final tune-up of the spring before he starts the fourth game of the regular season in Kansas City. He has pitched well all spring, posting a 3.66 ERA in five appearances. ... Matsuzaka has pitched in one previous game this spring as he was slowed by back and neck pain. He will start the season on the disabled list and is expected to embark on a minor-league rehab assignment next week.

UPDATE, 12:54 p.m.: Looks like the lineup will be Beltre after Ortiz. Managers just can't resist alternating lefties and righties.

UPDATE, 2:45 p.m.: Josh Reddick was officially optioned today. He had been told about a week ago that he wouldn't be on the team but they were waiting to make sure Jeremy Hermida was healthy.
