Remember how the Run Prevention Red Sox were supposed to have trouble hitting home runs?

MLB home run leaders
Blue Jays 26
White Sox 25
Red Sox 24
Diamondbacks 24
Cardinals 23

Meanwhile their vaunted starters have a 5.21 ERA and the defense has allowed nine unearned runs.

It's a small sample size, of course. But go figure baseball, right?

The other good news is that ugly or not the Sox have won four of their last five games and are peering around the corner of respectability at 8-10.

We'll leave you with this wacky stat. The Sox had two different players hit two three-run home runs in the same inning tonight for the first time since Aug. 8, 2003 when Nomar Garciaparra and Kevin Millar did it against the Angels. The victim?

Why John Lackey, of course. They did it tonight it gave him the win.

Thanks for reading the blog tonight. Back at it tomorrow.
