Red Sox pitchers in interleague road games:

21 plate appearances
4 of 13 (.308)
5 sacrifices
1 RBI
1 walk
3 strikeouts

So they've come to the plate 21 times in seven games and done something positive 10 times. Not bad.

Tim Wakefield, while making sure to acknowledge he was disappointed in the results, clearly got a kick out of drawing a walk and running the bases last night.

Clay Buchholz, who pitches today, has never come to the plate in a big league game. But it's worth noting that had the Sox not drafted him as a pitcher, the Cardinals were going to take him as an outfielder a few rounds later.

Buchholz hit .387 at Angelina (Texas) Junior College with a .613 slugging percentage. He swings lefty and the old scouting reports said he had good pop.

"Oh, I know what I'm doing up there," he said the other day with a grin.
