The Dodgers and their mirthful DH are back in town. Here are the lineups:
RED SOX (40-28)
Pitching: LHP Felix Doubront (MLB debut).
Pitching: RHP Carlos Monasterios (3-1, 2.98).
Game time: 7:10 p.m.
State of the Sox: The Sox have won five of six on their homestand and are now two games out first place behind the Rays and Yankees.
Reversals of fortune: The Red Sox and Dodgers were early season flops. But the Sox are 36-19 since April 20 and the Dodgers are 30-14 since April 30. They are tied for first place in the NL West with the San Diego "Don't ask for Adrian Gonzalez" Padres.
Welcome to the show: Doubront was 6-1 with a 2.11 ERA for Portland and Pawtucket and has yet to allow a home run in 59.2 innings. The 22-year-old from Venezuela has been with the Red Sox since 2004.
New kid in town: Monasterios is a 24-year-old from Venezuela who before this season had never pitched above the Class AA level. He was a Rule 5 Draft selection by the Mets and then traded to the Dodgers. This will be his sixth start.
Interleague bullies: The Red Sox are 7-2 in interleague games, outscoring the opposition 59-27. They have won 13 of their 17 games against the NL. The Red Sox are 2-4 against the Dodgers. The teams last met in 2004.
Mannymania: Ramirez is 26 of 102 (.255) since coming off the disabled list on May 8. But he is 7 of his last 13 with four extra-base hits and five RBIs.
Red-hot Red Sox: Ortiz is 11 of his last 23 with eight RBIs and six extra-base hits. ... Nava is 8 of 18 since he arrived with five extra-base hits and six RBIs over six games. He also has scored four runs. ... Scutaro has hit in six straight at 11 of 26 with four doubles. ... Pedroia is 13 of his last 28 with six RBIs. ... Beltre has hit in seven straight at 11 of 27 with six RBIs. ... Manny Delcarmen has not allowed a run in his last 4.2 innings and struck out six.
Good penmanship: Red Sox relievers have allowed two runs in their last 18 innings.
Sacks of sacs: The Red Sox have 15 sacrifices this season. They had 19 all last season.
On the iPod right now: It's unprintable. But it's by NWA. Today has been a good day for hard-core rap.
