"But [Pedroia] is sore as hell," the manager said.

Pedroia was on crutches in the clubhouse with his foot in a protective boot. He'll go for more tests later on this morning, at 10 a.m. local time There is little chance he'll play before Tuesday, if then.

Pedroia said his foot hurt and that there is swelling. "I'll try and get back as soon as possible," he said.

What is he going to do tonight?

"Ice, elevate and pray," he said.

The Sox will probably need to get an infielder here tomorrow. That would be Angel Sanchez or Gil Velazquez

-----------

The Giants have dumped Joe Martinez from tomorrow's start and will go with rookie lefty Madison Bumgarner. ... Daniel Nava has reached base safely (via hit, walk or hit by pitch) in 12 straight games, the longest streak to start a career by a Red Sox player since Mo Vaughn had a 12-game streak in 1991. ... It was cold tonight and apparently J.D. Drew's hamstring tightened up on him. That's why he didn't hit for Darnell McDonald in the 9th inning but would have hit for the pitcher had McDonald extended the game.

Thanks to everybody for reading today and staying up late with Extra Bases. It was fun to meet a bunch of West Coast Sox fans today, too.
