Josh Beckett just completed a two-inning simulated game at Fenway Park against hitters from the independent Brockton Rox.

He threw 41 pitches and, according to Sox media relations chief Pam Ganley, felt fine.

Beckett's next step will be to start a minor-league rehab assignment, probably on Tuesday. He'll need a few starts in the minors before he is activated off the disabled list.

In other news:

* Clay Buchholz threw off the mound for the first time since he was hurt on Saturday. He's going to throw a full side session in the next day or two and is on track to start against Tampa Bay on Monday.

* Infielder Tug Hulett cleared waivers and was outrighted to Pawtucket, which cleared a spot on the 40-man roster.
