If I'm missing something, please enlighten me. But wouldn't the Red Sox be instantly better if they released Hideki Okajima and called up almost anybody else from Pawtucket?

As of 4 p.m. today, there are 96 hours until the trade deadline. There are no indications as of this writing that the Red Sox are prepared to make a significant move, although you continue to hear them linked with Scott Downs, Michael Wuertz and other relievers.

But the Okajima/Anybody swap would seem to be one step in the right direction, no?
