His left foot is sore. Jed Lowrie will play second and bat second.

UPDATE, 6:40 p.m.: Pedroia did not seem to think it was anything significant, just the expected soreness given his long layoff. He had trouble sleeping last night because of the pain.

He admitted he was stupid to steal second in the first inning yesterday, saying that didn't help matters.

This will be the first time Lowrie has played since he was felled by heat exhaustion in Texas on Friday.
