The Red Sox will send seven players to the Arizona Fall League, the prospect-laden finishing school for future big leaguers.

The Peoria Javelinas roster will include:

RHP Seth Garrison
SS Jose Iglesias
C Ryan Lavarnway
OF Juan Carlos Linares
RHP Jason Rice
RHP Daniel Turpen

Linares is the Cuban outfielder who was signed earlier this season. He has played only 11 games so far and is finishing up the season with Portland. Linares turns 26 in a few days.

Turpen is the player the Sox received from the Giants for Ramon Ramirez. He also is with Portland.

The seventh player is expected to be RHP Casey Kelly, who is sitting out the remainder of the minor league season with a minor lat strain.

Keep in mind, the AFL is not necessarily for all the top prospects of an organization. Guys like Anthony Rizzo or Will Middlebrooks got plenty of plate appearances this season and don't need the extra work.

The AFL gets started on Oct. 12.
