Marco Scutaro is back at shortstop a day after he played second base. The inflammation around Scutaro's right shoulder/neck is better. Manager Terry Francona said that "it's the best he's felt in a while."

Francona spoke about assessing the way the team does things after the season ends. One area will be pitchers fielding. The Sox have the worst fielding pitchers in the AL and maybe in all of baseball. Francona doesn't think the answer is pitchers fielding practice during the season because he feels there's too much throwing involved.

Francona really won't commit on how much playing time some of the rookies will get from here on out. The manager seems to be playing it by ear.

Francona is still hesitant to give Jarrod Saltalamacchia first base time even though he's played 38 major league games there.
