The Sox have called up hard-throwing RHP Robert Coello from Pawtucket. He's a reliever and the organization's latest independent league discovery.

Also, Marco Scutaro will get an MRI on Tuesday to get a sense how damaged his shoulder is.

Mike Cameron was in the clubhouse before the game and reported that his surgery lasted 4.5 hours. He had abdominal tears on both sides of his body and needed something called a "groin release" to clear up another muscle issue.

Finally, Terry Francona indicated they were ready to proceed with using Clay Buchholz on three days' rest on Wednesday. If the Sox were four games out, I could see it. But if they're eight or nine games out of the wild card by then, is that worth the risk?

Buchholz has never pitched in short rest in his professional career. Maybe nothing will happen. But if something does ... wow. Seems like a scant reward for too much risk.
