The Mets have narrowed their GM search to two people: MLB executive Sandy Alderson and former Diamondbacks GM Josh Byrnes.

Allard Baird, one of Theo Epstein's assistants, missed the cut along with Rick Hahn (White Sox), Logan White (Dodgers) and Dana Brown (Blue Jays).

Byrnes is a former Epstein assistant who left for Arizona in 2005.

In other job-search news related to the Red Sox, it sounds like the next Toronto manager will be either John Farrell or DeMarlo Hale with Jays bench coach Brian Butterfield also in the mix.

The Blue Jays could reach a decision as soon as tonight. Given that they're built around young pitching, my money remains on Farrell.
