Erik Boland of Newsday is reporting that RHP Matt Guerrier has signed a three-year deal with the Dodgers.
The Red Sox had an offer out for Guerrier.
That several set-up men already have received three-year deals can't be making Theo Epstein too happy. The Red Sox are against such deals and history proves them to be right. Most of these middle relief jamokes are rarely consistent month to month, never mind year to year.
But eventually the Red Sox may have to accept the idea that they'll need to waste money in 2013 to have a decent bullpen in 2011.
You watch, a trade will be part of this process. They'll find a guy with upside like they did with Ramon Ramirez in 2008.
