Pretty cool scene at the Winter Meetings right now. Retired managers Joe Torre, Cito Gaston and Lou Piniella are holding a press conference.

Bobby Cox was supposed to be up there, but a family matter called him away. Bud Selig introduced them.

In the news today:

• Ty Wigginton signed with the Rockies for two years and $8 million. Good deal for him and good pickup by the Rockies.

• There's a rumor that Cliff Lee received a seven-year offer. Could be those crazy Nationals.

• Derek Jeter's deal is official and the Yankees are holding a press conference in Tampa this afternoon.

• It appears to be a matter of time, maybe hours, before Paul Konerko re-signs with the White Sox.
