nkfenway1.jpgThe Red Sox have had some great music acts play at Fenway Park over the years.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band played two memorable shows at the old ballpark in 2003. Paul McCartney, the Stones, the Police, Dave Matthews, Phish, Aerosmith and J. Geils have played there as well.

This year? Get ready for The New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys on June 11. A second show is possible on June 12. Tickets go on sale on Feb. 5.

It's a long way down from Bruce, Sir Paul, Mick and Sting to a couple of aging boy bands. But to each his own. Or in this case, her own.

U2 is still touring. Too bad the Sox couldn't make that happen.

(This info gleefully swiped from our friends at The Names Blog at Boston.com. Thanks, Mark.)

UPDATE, 8:05 p.m.: Over on Twitter, @bryanjreynolds raised a good point that Pearl Jam should be playing Fenway Park. Theo is boys with Eddie Vedder, too. PJ would be awesome at Fenway.
