FORT MYERS, Fla. — Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis, after signing autographs for fans for about a half hour, spoke about the start of camp and getting on the field for the first full-squad workout.

"It was a big day for us," Youkilis said. "It wasn't too heavy of a workload. Tomorrow's going to be a little bit more with live [batting practice] from the pitchers, which is always an interesting day. ... It was a lot of fun to get back on the field."

Youkilis also spoke about making the move from first back to third base.

"I enjoy third base because I've been there my whole career," he said. "It's a little bit more of a challenge. I like the challenge ... of trying to get better at a position that I need to get better at and it's going to be a spring training of challenging myself and challenging myself and throughout the year challenging myself to be a better third baseman than I am the day before."
