Final: Red Sox 6, BC 0

BC's Dave Laufer had a single in the seventh inning (and was thrown out trying to a double) to break up the no-hitter. Randy Williams gave it up.

Middle of the 6th: Red Sox 5, BC 0

Fox retired the side in order, striking out a pair.

Top of the 6th: Red Sox 5, BC 0

The BC pitchers have done a nice job, holding the pros to four hits. The Sox now have Matt Fox on the mound.

Top of the 5th: Red Sox 5, BC 0

The Sox left two runners on base. Now Clevelan Santeliz is pitching.

Middle of the 4th: Red Sox 5, BC 0

Jason Rice retired the side in order. BC has sent 12 batters to the plate and all have been retired.

Top of the 4th: Red Sox 5, BC 0

Kalish had an RBI single and Anderson a sac fly as the Sox padded their lead. Ryan Lavarnway had a chance to add to it but fouled out to first. He is 0 for 2 with two pop-ups and three men left on base.

Rice now pitching. New OF, too. Hassan, Bell and Sheely in, Middlebrooks at 3B, Dlugach at SS and Hoover catching. All of the starters are out.

Middle of the 3rd: Red Sox 3, BC 0

Nine up, nine down for the Eagles as Bowden gets three fly balls. BC has liberally subbed.

Top of the 3rd: Red Sox 3, BC 0

Reddick walked with one out and Scutaro walked with two outs. Pedroia grounded a ball over the mound but the second baseman tracked it down to end the inning. Bowden replaces Pimentel.

Pedroia is out of the game now. He didn't have any chances in the field.

Middle of the 2nd: Red Sox 3, BC 0

1-2-3 inning for Pimentel. He's likely done.

Top of the 2nd: Red Sox 3, BC 0

Scutaro and Pedroia walked and moved up when Ortiz grounded to first. Youkilis then went the other way, drilling a homer off the light pole in right. McDonald popped to center and Kalish struck out.

Middle of the 1st: BC 0, Red Sox 0

Pimentel retired the side in order. Smith ripped a ball down the line at third but Youkilis made a diving stop and a strong throw to first. Yep, he likes it there a lot. Prohovich fanned to end the inning. This is a seven-inning game, by the way.

Top of the 1st.: BC 0, Red Sox 0

First pitch was at 1:06 p.m. and it was a called strike by Stolmy Pimentel, who went on to strike out Marc Perdios. The stands are not close to full.

Pre-game: Good afternoon from City of Palms Park, where it's a lovely 79 degrees and sunny. Stay with Extra Bases as we give you updates on today's game. The teams are warming up now.

Just FYI: The media is allowed into the clubhouse during spring training games to interview the starters when then come out of the game. The players don't hang around until the end of games in spring training.

So if the blog isn't updated for a bit, that's why. Plus the score of exhibition games isn't really important.

Updates to come.
