The Red Sox have invited the following non-roster players to spring training:

LHPs
Rich Hill
Andrew Miller
Randy Williams

RHPs
Jason Bergmann
Brandon Duckworth
Matthew Fox
Tony Pena Jr.
Jason Rice
Clevelan Santeliz
Kyle Weiland
Alex Wilson

Catchers
Tim Federowicz
Paul Hoover
Ryan Lavarnway

Infielders
Brent Dlugach
Hector Luna
Nate Spears
Drew Sutton

Outfielders
Che-Hsuan Lin
Juan Carlos Linares

The team officially announced the signings of Fox, Hoover, Luna and Pena today. Those additions were previously reported here and elsewhere.

In all, the Red Sox will have 60 players to start camp. The most prominent prospects who were invited to camp were Lavarnway, Lin, Linares, Wilson and Weiland.

It was a little bit of a surprise, at least to me, that third baseman Will Middlebrooks did not get the call, if only to give him some extra days of structured work. I also thought catcher Dan Butler might get a look. But their time will come.

Of the 20 non-roster players, Hill would appear to have the best chance of making the team. The lefty reliever from Milton will be competing for a spot in the bullpen. Hideki Okajima, who has a major-league contract, is the favorite but team officials have made it clear he doesn't have a free pass onto the 25-man roster.
