A few early morning impressions
FORT MYERS, Fla. — Things learned this morning in the clubhouse:
• David Ortiz refers to Alfredo Aceves and Dennys Reyes as "The Mexican Mafia."
• Juan Carlos Linares' favorite player when he was in Cuba was Kevin Youkilis, but he has been afraid to tell him that.
• Jed Lowrie is finishing up his political science degree from Stanford. He had three electives to take and enrolled in a photography class and is doing an independent study on labor relations in sports. Jed's last year in school was 2005. You have to give him a lot of credit for going back to finish.
• Marco Scutaro is taking an active role in mentoring several young players including Jose Iglesias, Oscar Tejada and Yamaico Navarro.
• Luis Exposito is an excellent Angry Birds player.
