FORT MYERS, Fla. Terry Francona said this morning that Alfredo Aceves would "likely" start against the Yankees on Monday.

Aceves was with the Yankees from 2008-10, going 14-1 with a 3.21 ERA. He was non-tendered for injury reasons but has pitched effectively for the Red Sox this spring. He has thrown 7.1 innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits with one walk and one strikeout.

The Yankees are planning to start Sergio Mitre in that game.

As to other matters:

Francona's assessment of Oscar Tejeda: "He was one of the funner stories to spring training. He's the youngest guy in camp. He's got a smile that's about as infectious as you can get. He loves to play, We were really excited to get a chance to watch him. He's got a lot of work to do defensively and we told him that. There's nothing wrong with that. He's a young kid and he made a position change (from shortstop to second base). But he's got some thunder in his bat and his body's going to continue to get bigger and fill out. He's a really exciting young player."

On Jonathan Papelbon's rocky outing yesterday: "It sounded like he had one of those spring training days. It wasn't a real solid outing. His first three have been really good, so chalk it up to that and move on. Maybe the pressure of the Mayor's Cup got to him."

On the rotation: "Curt (Young) and I, we're in the midst of going through the rotation so we can have the guys in the right order the last couple of weeks. We should have that later on, maybe even today or tomorrow. I haven't talked to the pitchers yet. Some things will become clear when we lay it out.

(Meaning the Opening Day starter.)

Dustin Richardson is here with the Marlins. He was traded to Florida for Andrew Miller.
