ARLINGTON, Texas — It was good to see Adrian Beltre today. After his one sparkling season in Boston, he signed a five-year, $80 million deal with the Rangers. His debut with the team will come against the Red Sox tomorrow.

“It’s weird,” he said. “Go figure.”

Belte keeps in touch with David Ortiz and Marco Scutaro, mainly by text message. He has only good memories of his time in Boston after hitting .321 with 49 doubles, 28 home runs and 102 RBIs.

“No doubt, it was fun even though it didn’t turn out the way we wanted it to,” he said. “I had a good year over there.”

Beltre was open to the idea of returning to Boston. But that door closed when the Sox obtained Adrian Gonzalez from the Padres and moved Kevin Youkilis to third base.

“That team looks great,” he said. “The probably got two of the best guys out there. Crawford is a guy who can do everything for any team and everybody knows what Adrian Gonzalez can do. Great defensive player, great guy and he’s going be 30 and 100-plus [home runs and RBIs]. That lineup looks pretty good.”

I don't know about you, but I'll miss watching Beltre play every day. The guy hustled every second he was on the field, made some amazing plays in the field and those home runs from one knee were certainly memorable.
