The Yankees today named A.J. Burnett their No. 2 starter and Phil Hughes as the No. 3. Nos. 4 and 5 have yet to be determined. Freddy Garcia, Ivan Nova and Bartolo Colon are the three candidates.

So now we can sort of determine what the first series of the year between the Red Sox and Yankees will look like:

April 8: Phil Hughes vs. John Lackey

April 9: Yankees No. 4 vs. Clay Buchholz

April 10: Yankees No. 5 vs. Josh Beckett

Both teams have days off earlier in the week, but plan to start the season with five-man rotations. A lot can change, obviously. But this is the way it shapes up for now.

Everybody who had John Lackey and A.J. Burnett as No. 2 starters this season, raise your hands. Hughes and Buchholz are asking for a recount.
