Final: Red Sox 2, Yankees 1

Two innings from Rich Hill locked it down for the Sox.

Top of the 8th: Red Sox 2, Yankees 1

Okajima survived two singles. Then the Red Sox left two stranded against Ayala.

Top of the 7th: Red Sox 2, Yankees 1

Jenks disposed of the Yankees in his inning. Granderson singled with one out but was thrown out stealing by Saltalamacchia.

The Sox made it 2-1 against the erratic Betances. Singles by Youkilis and Gonzalez started it before Cameron walked with one out to load the bases. Salty grounded into a force (facing Luis Ayala) to drive in the go-ahead run.

Now Okajima pitching for the Sox.

Top of the 6th: Yankees 1, Red Sox 1

Wild thing, you make my heart sing. Dellin Betances just had a rough inning. The tall Yankees prospect hit Marco Scutaro and walked Ryan Kalish before throwing a wild pitch. With runners on second and third, Dustin Pedroia hit a ball up the middle. He was out at first and Kalish was out at second because he ran all the way to third. Little too aggressive there.

Another wild pitch scored Scutaro. Now comes Bobby Jenks.

Middle of the 5th: Yankees 1, Red Sox 0

Jonathan Papelbon just tossed a 1-2-3 inning. It was his first outing since a hideous third of an inning (1H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 1 HBP) against the Twins on Friday.

Top of the 5th: Yankees 1, Red Sox 0

Reyes allowed a two-out infield single by Belliard then picked him off. Garrison then retired Ortiz (P-5), Cameron (F-8) and Salty (K) in order. Two hits for the Sox tonight.

Top of the 4th: Yankees 1, Red Sox 0

Doubles by Montero and Gardner gave the Yankees their run. Banuelos got the first two outs in the bittom of the inning before he was taken out. Steve Garrison then got Gonzalez to ground to first.

Aceves is done and Dennys Reyes is in.

Top of the 3rd: Yankees 0, Red Sox 0

Aceves set down the Yankees in order. Banuelos loaded the bases with one out as Ortiz and Cameron singled before Scutaro walked. But Ellsbury grounded into a force at the plate and Pedroia grounded out to third. Nice poise by the young man.

Top of the 2nd: Yankees 0, Red Sox 0

Aceves allowed a one-out single by his buddy Ramiro Pena. With Pena on second after a steal, Nick Swisher smoked a ball up the middle but Aceves snapped it out of the air.

In the bottom of the inning, Ellsbury and Youkilis drew walks off Banuelos but that was it. Gonzalez grounded to second on a 3-1 pitch to end the inning. The kid is good.

Pre-game: Beautiful night at City of Palms as the old rivals meet. It will be ex-Yankee Alfredo Aceves against 20-year-old phenom Manny Banuelos. It should be fun to watch, so pop on NESN or ESPN2.

But hang out here for updates and observations, too. And please, add your comments.

Enjoy the game.
