SARASOTA, Fla. Matt Albers, who is scheduled to pitch today, spent the last three seasons with the Orioles.

Here's a scouting report from Buck Showalter:

"Hard sinker. Hard slider. Resilient. Really tough on righthanders, too. Good young pitcher. I saw a little bit of a game the other day. He looks like hes really in good shape, too. Comparatively speaking. Still a good young arm. Ill tell you what hes got a chance. I wish him well. Hes a good young pitcher. I hope he pitches well in Pawtucket but I dont think he will. I think hell pitch well in Boston."

Albers is one of the three pitchers in the mix for the final spot in the bullpen and may have the advantage because he's out of options.

In other news:

Kevin Youkilis and Carl Crawford will skip the game in Dunedin tomorrow and get extra at-bats in a minor league game. Jonathan Papelbon and Daniel Bard will pitch at the complex, too.

Dennys Reyes will pitch today in Sarasota and apparently tomorrow in Dunedin, too.

Pat Sajak of "Wheel of Fortune" fame will throw out the first pitch. He has on black pants and an orange shirt. "I thought he was the Oriole," Terry Francona cracked.
