OAKLAND Two of the biggest stories in spring training regarded the health of Adrian Gonzalez and Dustin Pedroia.

Both were coming off surgery, Gonzalez on his right shoulder and Pedroia on his left foot. Gonzalez as held out of games until early March while Pedroia was watched carefully for any signs of discomfort.

Now here we are on April 19 and guess what? The only two Red Sox players who have started every game at their respective positions are Gonzalez and Pedroia. They lead the team with 123 innings in the field. They also lead the team with 66 plate appearances

Pedroia is playing a Gold Glove-level second base, showing his usual excellent range. Gonzalez also is playing to the same high standards, making several plays that required diving and showing no ill effects.

Gonzalez said before the season that he wanted to play all 162 games. Don't bet against it.
