The Sox are off today. But if you're interested in following some baseball, go on line and check in on how the Single A Greenville Drive fare tonight.

Anthony Ranaudo will be on the mound for Greenville. He is 1-0 with an 0.60 earned run average through three starts. His line so far:

15 IP, 8 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 7 BB, 15 K.

That's impressive considering Ranaudo had not pitched since last summer in the Cape Cod League. The 21-year-old out of LSU was the 39th overall pick in the draft last June, falling to the Red Sox because of health and signability issues.

The Sox have proceeded cautiously since, limiting Ranaudo's workload and having him start his pro career in Low A ball. If he continues to dominate the South Atlantic League, Ranaudo will likely be elevated to High-A Salem before too long.

It's not inconceivable that Ranaudo finishes the season with Class AA Portland. He was third in the nation in strikeouts as a sophomore trailing Stephen Strasburg and Mike Leake. This is a young man with a lot of talent. He's also 6-foot-7, 231 pounds.
