Josh Beckett, who left last night's game with a sore neck, just spoke to a handful of reporters in front of his locker.

"It's stiff but it's feeling better," he said.

Beckett expects to make his start as scheduled. "I don't think that was even a question," he said.

Beckett played catch today and said his neck felt better the harder he threw. He received some treatment and didn't seem too concerned.

New lefty reliever Franklin Morales arrived from Philadelphia, where the Rockies were, and said he was ready to pitch. He has thrown one pitch since May 12, so the Sox likely want to see him throw in the bullpen first before running him out there.

But he's here and on the roster.

Kevin Millwood passed his physical and is headed to Fort Myers. According to Theo Epstein, Millwood will pitch a few games in extended spring training before being assigned to Pawtucket.

Curt Young said John Lackey felt good after playing catch today. It was the first time he had done that since receiving a cortisone shot on Monday in his elbow.
