Middlebrooks 1 for 2 in Futures Game
PHOENIX — Will Middlebrooks was 1 for 2 for the United States team in the annual Futures Game today. Class AA Portland teammate Chih-Hsien Chiang was 0 for 3 with a walk and a run scored for the World Team.
The US prospects scored three runs in the eighth inning to win 6-4 at Chase Field.
Middlebrooks started at third base for the US while Chiang was the starting left fielder for the World team.
Nick Cafardo will have more on the game tomorrow in the Globe.
Mets prospect Matt Harvey, the pride of Groton, Conn., and Fitch High, got the save.
