Yankees manager Joe Giardi said this morning that Alex Rodriguez has a meniscus tear in his right knee and will need surgery.
The question is whether he gets it now and misses a month or tries to play through the end of the season and gets the surgery later. Given that the Yankees expect to be playing in October, asking a position player to go three months or so on a bad knee is a lot.
It sure looks like injuries could decide the AL East. The Sox are trying to come up with healthy starters and now the Yankees are dealing with the possible loss of their cleanup hitter for a month.
