Pregame updates on Buchholz and Lester
Red Sox manager Terry Francona provided a couple of updates about two of his pitchers during his pregame news conference.
** On Clay Buchholz, who was placed on the disabled list retroactive to June 17 for a lower back strain:
"He did the long toss again [today]," Francona said. "We just felt -- Buch included -- one more time doing the long toss, then if all goes well, then he'll maybe go to a bullpen Sunday or Monday. We'll see."
This is a setback; Buccholz was supposed to throw off the mound today.
** On Jon Lester, who last pitched for the Sox on July 5 and suffered a strained lat muscle:
"Lester's all on pace for Monday," Francona said.
Monday night's game kicks off a four-game series against the Royals.
